Signal Alerts
Updated
An alert notifies you when an eligible live strategy order fills β an entry, take-profit or stop-loss event β through the notification methods you select in TradingView. Alerts are also how automatic trading works (the alert quietly tells your connector to place the trade).
First: choose your alert mode
Open the indicator's settings and find the Alert Settings π section. The setting Alert Message for offers two choices:
- Manual Trading
- The alert message contains the signal, the ticker, and the exact trade size, so you can read it and place the trade yourself. Choose this if you trade by hand.
- Automatic Trading
- The alert sends the text you put in the πΈ Custom Alert Messages fields, so a connector can act on it automatically. Choose this only if you are setting up Automatic Trading, and fill in those fields first β see Custom Alert Messages.
Create the alert
- Open TradingView and click the Alerts icon (clock) in the right-hand sidebar.
- Click the οΌ button to create a new alert.
- Under Condition, select the exact strategy on your chart. For the core strategies, select Order fills only if TradingView presents a trigger choice.
- Message tab β Give the alert any name, then paste exactly this into the Message field so TradingView fills in the real signal details automatically:
{{strategy.order.alert_message}}- Open the Notifications tab and choose the available notification methods you want, such as app push or email. A broker connection is not needed for manual notifications.
- Click Create. Alerts begin with eligible live order events after creation; historical chart labels do not trigger new notifications. Buy-Sell reversals can use one combined close-and-open order.
Where to see triggered alerts
All alert activity and logs appear in the Alerts window (the same clock icon) in TradingView, under the Log tab.
