OptiTrade V1.0 Guide

Updated

OptiTrade V1.0 is the original all-in-one OptiTrade system. It packs four selectable trade strategies, a signal-accuracy engine, and a multi-chart Screener into a single indicator. It works a little differently from the OptiTrade 2.0 line, so this page is its complete, self-contained guide — including the hard-won practical tips from years of using it.

Getting started

  1. Add it to a chart — Follow Add Indicators to TradingView.
  2. Open the Strategy Tester — On desktop, open the panel at the bottom of the chart. Back-testing results only show on desktop, not mobile.
  3. Turn on Backtesting — In the settings, enable Backtesting so the tester starts scoring your setup and (optionally) automation becomes available.
  4. Start tuning — Pick a strategy, then adjust the settings below until the tester looks good on your symbol and timeframe.

Accuracy

Accuracy controls how selective the signal engine is. It ranges from Very Low → Low → Normal → High → Very High → Super High → Max High → Ultimate High.

  • Lower accuracy = more signals, earlier, but noisier (weaker back-tests).
  • Higher accuracy = fewer signals that focus on the bigger, cleaner swings — usually higher quality.
  • Start at Normal and move up if you're getting too many low-quality signals.

Trading Style

The Trading Style decides *what kind* of move each signal is trying to catch:

Trend Reversalrecommended
Catches turning points — the developer team's recommended default, and usually the best all-round results.
Trend Continuation
Rides existing trends and fires earlier, giving more entries. Great for sustained trends (for example a strong index bull run).
Simple
The earliest possible signals, but the weakest back-tests. Only use it when signal volume matters more than quality.

There's also a Color Style (For White Background / For Black Background / Dynamic / Monochrome) so the visuals match your chart theme.

The Optimizer

The Optimizer filters out lower-confidence signals to lift your win rate — it removes more losing signals than winning ones. Options are None, Fast, and Slow. Turning it on gives fewer but more accurate signals. Test each setting (None, Fast, Slow) and keep whichever the Strategy Tester likes best for your market.

Choosing a strategy

Under Risk Management, the Strategy dropdown picks how trades are managed. Set Entry Units first (your position size). Then choose one:

TP-SL Strategydefault
Entry signals with an invisible trailing Stop Loss; TP/SL exit signals appear as the trade develops. Pick a Swing Size preset to set the character of the trade (see below).
Buy-Sell Strategy
Buy = enter long, Sell = exit (one position at a time). If back-tests look poor, try the Switch Strategy toggle, which reverses every signal.
Multi-TP Strategy
One Stop Loss paired with 2, 3 or 4 Take Profits. Choose whether SL/TP sizes are measured in ATR or percent, set the TP sizes, then the TP count. Active trades display the exact price of every TP and the SL.
Custom Strategy
The most flexible mode, for when the presets aren't enough — see the detailed settings below.

Swing Size presets (TP-SL)

Scalp
Tightest stop and smallest swings — for quick, short-term trades.
Swing
A balanced risk/reward — the recommended starting point.
Big Swing
Loosest stop and largest swings — for bigger, longer moves.
High Winrate
Tuned to win more often (typically smaller reward per trade).
Custom Size
Define your own swing behaviour by hand.

Custom Strategy settings

Stop Loss (%) & Risk-to-Reward
Your base Stop Loss (as a percent) and how far the Take Profit sits relative to it. A Risk-to-Reward below 1.0 raises your win rate at the cost of smaller wins. Range roughly 0.3–6.0 — test in small steps.
Correction Range
A little room for the Stop Loss to auto-adjust to a smarter level around your entry. Focus here after the Stop Loss itself.
Trailing Stop Loss Size
Turns on a trailing stop, sized relative to ATR, that follows price to lock in profit as the trade moves your way.
Take Profit / Extending TP
Extends the initial Take Profit once price pushes past an activation point — good for letting winners run in a trend.
Close at Half
Optionally closes part of the position at the midpoint for earlier profit-taking.

The Screener (multi-chart watchlist)

OptiTrade V1.0 can watch up to 10 symbols at once without opening each chart. Enable the Screener, then fill in the Symbol + Timeframe rows and pick a Screener Alignment (Mobile or Desktop) to fit your layout. For each symbol the table shows:

Last Signal
The most recent buy/sell signal on that symbol.
Chance
The statistical likelihood of the next reversal signal appearing soon.
Direction
The current trend direction.
Strength
How strong that current trend is.

The proven tuning workflow

This is the step-by-step routine that reliably finds a profitable setup. Work through the strategies in order; move on only if a strategy can't be made to work on your asset and timeframe.

  1. Start with TP-SL — Enable Backtesting and read the (probably poor) starting result — that's normal.
  2. Sweep the Optimizer — Test it Off, then Fast, then Slow, noting the tester each time.
  3. Sweep the Trading Style — Switch between Trend Reversal and Trend Continuation.
  4. Raise Accuracy — Bump Accuracy up a level or two and re-check.
  5. Try direction & swing sizes — Test buy-only and sell-only, and every Swing Size (Scalp, Swing, Big Swing).
  6. Move to Buy-Sell — If TP-SL won't cooperate, repeat the sweeps on Buy-Sell — and try Switch Strategy.
  7. Move to Multi-TP — Test SL/TP size combinations and 2/3/4 TP counts, then re-run the sweeps.
  8. Finish with Custom — Focus on Stop Loss and Correction Range; try Risk-to-Reward below 1.0 for a higher win rate.
  9. Still nothing? Change the canvas — Switch to a different asset or timeframe and start the cycle again — some markets simply suit the tool better.

Alerts & automation

OptiTrade V1.0 supports alerts and automated trading exactly like the 2.0 line. For automation, use order-fill alerts routed to a connector such as TradeAdapter. See Signal Alerts and Automatic Trading for the full setup. Alerts require the TradingView Essential plan.
